Most success stories begin with a dream. Gudiya Kumari’s began with a responsibility.
Growing up in Phulwari Sharif, a small village near Patna, Bihar, Gudiya knew life would be different. Born hearing and speech impaired, and with a younger sister who shares the same condition, Gudiya knew early on that she had to become the pillar of strength for her family.
When her father was diagnosed with a serious illness and could no longer work, her mother became the sole breadwinner. As the eldest of four siblings, Gudiya felt a deep sense of responsibility to support her family.
- 🎒 Still a student
- 🚫 No graduation degree
- 📍 From a village with limited opportunities
But none of that stopped her. Every day, she travelled 17 km to Patna looking for work. Faced rejection. Again. And again. Until she found the Sarthak Educational Trust’s Patna Center.
Sarthak: The Turning Point
It became the opportunity she had been searching for. At Sarthak, she found the right environment to grow — learning professional skills, workplace etiquette, and strengthening her sign language. The trainers at Sarthak not only taught her but also stood by her as mentors and motivators.
Her biggest breakthrough came in April 2024, when she cracked an interview with Reliance Trends, facilitated by Sarthak. She was selected as a Customer Sales Associate with an annual salary of ₹1.5 lakh — her first job, and a dream come true.
One Year Later —
- She’s earning
- She’s studying
- She’s supporting her family
- She’s building a future that once felt out of reach
“This job was more than a paycheck,” Gudiya says. “It was a dream I held close for years — to stand on my own feet and support my family. Sarthak gave me that chance.”
Looking Ahead: Dreams Beyond the First Job
Now, Gudiya is working toward completing her graduation and aiming for even better opportunities ahead. Her story is not just about getting a job — it’s about resilience, courage, and the belief that every dream, no matter how distant, is worth chasing.
