Avanish : Inspiring Journeys - PwD Achievers

Introduction: At 19, most young people are busy planning their future. Avanish was busy trying not to lose hope. Born with low vision, he spent his life navigating a world that often felt blurry—not just physically, but emotionally too. Reading signs, recognizing faces, and moving through crowded streets often required extra effort. But the biggest challenge was not his eyesight. It was the feeling that no one could see his potential.

A Dream Interrupted

Growing up in a family of seven with limited financial resources, Avanish learned early that dreams often come with a price. He was a sincere student who wanted to continue his education, but after completing Class 10, financial difficulties forced his education to come to a halt.

While his classmates moved forward, Avanish stayed behind, uncertain about what would come next. Determined to support his family, he began searching for employment. However, his journey into the workforce was filled with repeated rejection. Many employers noticed his disability before recognizing his abilities, leaving him with repeated assurances that they would get back to him—but no opportunities followed.

Overcoming Rejection

With every rejection, Avanish’s confidence faded. At home, financial pressure continued to grow. He watched his parents worry about expenses and wished he could contribute. Some relatives and even younger siblings questioned his abilities, while others assumed that he would never become independent.

Over time, these experiences affected his self-belief. “There were moments when I genuinely wondered if I would ever be good enough,” Avanish recalls.

The Sarthak Impact

The turning point came when Avanish learned about the 3-month skill-building program at Sarthak Educational Trust’s Banaras Centre. Unsure whether this opportunity would lead to a different outcome, he nevertheless decided to give himself one more chance.

From the very beginning, Avanish experienced something that was new to him—people believed in his potential. The environment encouraged him to focus on his abilities rather than being defined by his disability.

During the training, he learned about computer applications, digital marketing, assistive technologies, and workplace readiness. More importantly, he began rebuilding his confidence.

He learned keyboard shortcuts, explored adaptive software, and discovered how technology could become a bridge instead of a barrier. The young man who once sat quietly at the back of the room began asking questions, sharing ideas, and participating with greater confidence.

“The training didn’t just teach me how to work. It taught me that I am capable.”

The Opportunity That Changed His Life

After completing his training, Avanish received an opportunity that changed the course of his life. He was selected as a Customer Support Associate (CSA) at V Mart, with an annual package of INR 1.32 LPA.

For Avanish, this was much more than a job offer. It was proof that his disability did not define his future, that his abilities had value, and that he belonged in the workplace.

When he received his appointment letter, the years of uncertainty, rejection, and self-doubt gave way to a powerful feeling of pride.

From Seeking Support to Becoming Support

Today, Avanish contributes to his family’s income and helps create a more secure future for those he loves. The same home that once echoed with financial worries now celebrates his achievements.

Most importantly, Avanish now sees himself differently—not as someone waiting for opportunities, but as someone capable of building a better future through his own efforts.

“I am no longer waiting for support. Today, I am the support.”

A Story Bigger Than One Person

Avanish’s journey is about more than employment. It is about dignity, inclusion, confidence, and opportunity. His story demonstrates what can become possible when people are given the opportunity to develop their skills and demonstrate their abilities.

His journey reminds us that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not always reach everyone equally. When the right opportunity reaches the right person, it can create a meaningful transformation.

Conclusion

Today, Avanish stands as an example for every young person facing rejection. His journey shows that circumstances do not have to determine a person’s future, and challenges do not have to define their identity.

As Avanish puts it: “Don’t let rejection decide your worth. Learn, grow, keep moving forward, and believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.”

From being overlooked to becoming a source of strength for his family, Avanish’s story shows how one opportunity, combined with courage and determination, can open the door to a new chapter in life.
